Marukyu Koyamaen Yugen - Japanese Ceremonial Matcha
Marukyu Koyamaen Yugen - Japanese Ceremonial Matcha
Couldn't load pickup availability
Yugen takes its name from the Japanese aesthetic of profound, mysterious beauty. A mid-tier ceremonial matcha from Marukyu Koyamaen, stone-ground from shade-grown tencha in Uji, Kyoto, it sits in the considered middle of the range: above the everyday grades and worth taking a moment to prepare properly.
Best suited to those who drink matcha straight or in a latte and want something more expressive than an approachable ceremonial grade, without stepping into the premium tier.
How to brew (usucha)
Best prepared as usucha: 1.5g at 70–80°C, whisked until frothy.
How to brew (matcha latte)
Whisk 2–3g with a small amount of hot water to form a paste, then add steamed or cold milk of your choice.
